After a lot of thought and consideration, we decided to close to doors to Harp Design Co. As Creative Director, Hanna immersed her early training in furniture design at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), where she apprenticed under industry masters. Hanna’s philosophy on interior design is grounded in both human emotions and visual impact — how a space looks is just as important as how it makes you feel. Harper & Bright Designs was founded in Los Angeles, California and was created to celebrate both living room and bedroom furniture and to help people design those spaces the way they should be with our inventories.
"Creating doesn’t just have to be furniture—it can be a TV show, a podcast, a book, or any other thing that might spark me," Harp said. "I like to try new things. So, that’s what I’m going to do." Harp said the decision came down to reaching their "limit" with obligations to other business ventures and raising a family. "After a lot of thought and consideration, we have decided it is time to close the doors to Harp Design Co.," the couple said.

"The opportunities for close person-to-person spread are so intense on a cruise ship that once this virus is introduced into that population, it has many, many opportunities to spread," Schaffner warned. Even when compared to pre-pandemic levels, the number of outbreaks in 2019 was eight for the entire year — a figure that 2023 has already surpassed with five months still remaining.

That said, there are still a few new features that give long-time Disney Cruise Line fans plenty to look forward to. Icon of the Seas, once it debuts in 2024, will be the largest cruise ship in the entire world, surpassing the prior largest cruise ship, also from Royal Caribbean, Wonder of the Seas. Avalon is bringing its style of river cruise ship to Portugal's Douro River in 2024, with the 102-passenger Avalon Alegria. The ship will have Avalon's signature Panorama Suites, where the bed faces the river. A new immersive restaurant, centered around the concept of being on a train, is being developed. What's also unique for the ship is that it will focus on short three- and four-day itineraries from its Port Canaveral homeport -- meaning you'll never be able to see it all in one trip.

Fans of the Cunard Line have been waiting a long while for the Queen Anne cruise ship, which will follow in the footsteps of the line’s iconic Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth ships. The unique Bow Lounge is another new space, offering up commanding forward-facing views and interactive screens that display much of the vessel's navigational data.
Avalon Adds a New Ship in Portugal
Virgin Voyages debut ship, Scarlet Lady, came this close to entering revenue service before the coronavirus pandemic. Cruise Critic even had a preview of the ship in Southampton prior to its journey across the Atlantic to its homeport of Miami. Icon will feature the largest waterpark at sea, with six record-breaking slides. All new liners feature next-generation designs and marine architecture and technologies, each designed accordingly to the brand it serves (Costa, AIDA, Princess, Holland America, CCL-Carnival). Icon of the Seas has plenty of live music venues — including rowdy karaoke and dueling pianos bars, if that counts.
Royal Caribbean Utopia of the Seas
New features on this ship are minimal, as Viking Cruises has long attempted to keep its experiences similar across its ships, for guest experience continuity. Accordingly, expect the same decor and design, as well as restaurants and entertainment, that you might’ve already experienced on past Viking cruises. Other new features include a new Asian and sushi restaurant, and a new smoke-free casino with an attached dance club. A previous feature on the cruise line’s ships, the Champagner Treff Champagne bar, gets a new look for better views. Other amenities include a running track, gym, spa, sports court, climbing wall, and one pool. Following a successful launch in 2023, Explora Journeys will launch its second luxury ship, the 922-passenger Explora II, in August 2024.

During its maiden season, the U.S.-built cruise ship is set to offer a series of itineraries in New England and the Hudson River. Closing out Royal Caribbean’s Oasis Class, the Utopia of the Seas is set to welcome guests for its inaugural cruise on July 22, 2024. In a first for the company, the LNG-powered newbuild will spend its maiden season offering short cruises to the Bahamas departing from Port Canaveral. While slightly bigger than earlier Viking ocean ships, Viking Vela's interior will have an almost identical look.

The third Icon-class vessel has been ordered, with a delivery date set for Spring 2026. Richard Branson’s adults-only (18+) cruise line will launch its fourth “Lady Ship” sometime in 2024 (the ship was delayed from its original launch date of late 2023) or in early 2025. The line has a second new ship, the 4,810-passenger MSC Euribia, too, which will debut later in 2023 — in June, if all goes according to plan. At around 182,000 tons, it won't be quite as big as MSC World Europa but will still be one of the biggest cruise vessels in the world. Like the Oasis-class ships, it's able to hold nearly 7,000 passengers with all berths filled — 6,762, to be exact. Among the most notable of these smaller vessels is the 60-passenger AmaMagdalena, which is being billed as the first major river ship designed to sail on the Magdalena River in Colombia. Avalon's new entry for 2024, the 102-passenger Avalon Alegria, will be that line's first vessel on the Douro River in Portugal.

Passengers floating in the pools on these ships or lounging on nearby lounge chairs get an unobstructed view of the sea off the starboard side. Wellness-focused areas will include a new-for-the-line, glass-enclosed Wellness Studio at the top of the ship that will offer classes in yoga, pilates, Zumba and line dancing during the day and ballroom dancing classes at sunset. Among other standout venues, Sun Princess will feature a secret hideaway for magical performances designed in partnership with the Magic Castle performance venue in Los Angeles. Kids should love the new-for-Princess fun zone called Park19, featuring a ropes course and what's being billed as the first roll glider at sea, an electric ride that goes up to 11 mph.
Sun Princess initially will sail in Europe through the fall before repositioning to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, for voyages to the Caribbean. Fares start at $467 per person, not including taxes and fees, for a five-night Caribbean sailing. Sun Princess will also be the first Princess ship with suites that come with exclusive access to a private restaurant, lounge and sun deck — a sign Princess is finally getting serious about pampering its best customers. In size, Icon of the Seas will be about 6% bigger than the biggest of the Oasis Class ships, the one-year-old Wonder of the Seas. But it'll be able to hold about 7% more people — 7,600 passengers as compared to Wonder of the Seas' total capacity of 7,084 passengers.
